④サマーセミナーって、どんな様？ その1－5
セミナーの受講は「現地集合」の4文字で始まりました。私は関空から前日に出発しバンコクで乗り換え、シートはエコノミー。一緒に受講する3名は成田から当日出発、シートはビジネス。これって、個人か職務かという参加スタイルの違いから！？各々がカレッジに紹介されたホストファミリー宅にスティし、4人が顔を合わすのはキャンパス。「現地解散」のその日までお互いに助け合い、もちろん、その友情は今に結びついています。
さて、授業は2日間の講義、2日間の保育実習、振り返り1日が基本。事前準備はしたものの、実習やプレゼンテーションはやはり大変です。「聞き取る」・「話す」の努力をすることはコミュニケーションの基本です。それだけに1時間の昼食休憩と午前・午後15分ずつのティータイム（写真：机の上のカップに注目！）は、疲れた脳ミソを癒してくれました。

The very first assignment of the seminar was to “meet at the site”. I took a flight on the previous day from Kansai Airport and transferred in Bangkok, sitting in economy class seats all the way. The other three Japanese students in the same class left Narita on the day of arrival, seated comfortably in business class. Was this because I was taking the course at my own expense and the other three went at the expense of their employers !? Each of us stayed with a host family which the school introduced us to and which we met on campus. We helped each other, and our friendship is still lasting.
The course consisted of two days of lecture, two days of practical application, and one day of review. In spite of substantial preparation, application and presentations were not easy. Efforts to listen and speak are crucial in communication. To my weary brain, the one-hour lunch break and fifteen-minute breaks in the morning and in the afternoon supplied great nourishment.
